Stanford Stadium, Stanford University

Race Results

Race Day Registration 7:00 AM - 8:15 AM
Racewalk Start: 8:30 AM
Competitive Racewalk Leader: Jack Bray, marinrw@earthlink.net

Our competitive racewalk, for race walkers age 50 and over, is a staple of the Fifty-Plus Fitness Weekend. We call it "competitive," because it's judged by USATF race walking rules, that is, no visible loss of contact with the ground and straightened advancing leg. The racewalk is a flat and fast 5K course around the Stanford University campus, and finishes inside Stanford Stadium. The racewalk is timed. Awards are distributed in five-year age groups from age 50-54 through 90-plus. Registration includes T-shirt (as available), post-race refreshments, and Health Fair. View list of racewalk winners.

Or, if you prefer, stay close by for instruction on inline skating style and how to stop correctly (very important!) and skate on the 1/2 mile road inside the stadium fence. Adults of all ages welcome. Skate rentals are available at Black Diamond Sports at 162 University Avenue in Palo Alto, 650-289-0900. Registration includes T-shirt (as available) and post-event refreshments and festivities. Led by Phil Lenihan, 68, a IISA Certified, Level 3, In-line Skating Instructor.
